North East Based Piper;

Available for events in Co. Durham, Northumberland and North Yorkshire.

Bagpiper Durham HP15 is a professional Highland Piper in the North East of England and lives in Co, Durham. He is currently a civilian member of 102 Battalion Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers Pipes and Drums. He was discharged from the Territorial Army after serving 35 years of service in February 2012. He has served in many European countries playing at countless tattoos, venues and performances for the British Army. In March 2007 he was awarded Her Majesty’s Lord- Lieutenant Certificate. That is the highest honour outside of Buckingham Palace. As well as playing for military pipe bands he has also played alongside civilian pipe bands at a variety of engagements. Pipe band competitions, folk festivals, galas and first and second world war ceremonial occasions. He has performed all over the UK and in America, Russia, Poland and Germany to name a few.

As a solo piper he can play at all types of venues. Weddings, funerals, birthdays, anniversaries, social and ceremonial occasions. All types of dinners, conferences or seminars for guests or clients. New Year’s Eve celebration’s and Burn’s Suppers. One of his specialities is a Burns Night. Piping in the Picture of a County Durham Wedding Piper.haggis. Address to the haggis and reciting of other Burns Poems.

His uniform is Full Highland Dress (pictured right) or Day Wear Black Jacket (pictured above.

The Full Highland is Doublet, Kilt and Plaid. Feather Bonnet or Glengarry. “The Tartan is Ferguson”

The Day Wear is Black Jacket, Kilt, and Fly Plaid and Glengarry. “The Tartan is Chisholm” An extra cost is added for Full Highland.

What Music Does He Play?
He plays marches, slow airs, Strathspey, reels and jigs. All the favourites. Scotland the Brave, Mairies Wedding, Skye Boat Song, Flower of Scotland all in all I can play over a hundred tunes, folk tunes and a Christmas Selection. If a particular tune is requested. I will endeavour to play it at any event. I have no qualms about playing “Novelty Tunes” .

To play for the arrival of the hearse. To play while the deceased enters the church or crematorium. To play in the church or crematorium. To play at grave side if requested.

He plays the Highland Bagpipes not just for payment, but also for the enjoyment of playing one of the most amazing and remarkable musical instruments ever invented. There is nothing quite like the sound of the Highland Bagpipe. None other can stir the blood, quicken the heartbeat or move the soul. Any special occasion can be made more special with the sound of the pipes. He finds guests express they feel like royalty as they are piped into an event and he has been very much appreciated in all the work he does. He very much enjoy playing, serving and entertaining people and customers.

He endeavours to provide a very unique and competitive service. He does not charge by the hour but by the event. He is affordable and reasonably priced.
