Photo of a wedding piper based in Ayrshire.
This Scottish piper has been playing the pipes professionally for over 15 years. Though based in Scotland he is happy to travel throughout the UK and abroad.
He plays not only the larger Highland Pipes but also the smaller Lowland Pipes. The Highland Pipes are more suited to very large events or for those that are held outside, where the Lowland Pipes are better for normal sized events held Picture of pipes and drums duo available for hire in Scotland.inside. This is because the larger pipes can be quite loud and the smaller ones provide a warmer, quieter sound suitable for more intimate surroundings.

Piper & Drummer

Piper HP09 can also offer the option of playing a solo drummer, which combined with the pipes, gives a much fuller sound and improves the sense of occasion. Here he is pictured right, with the drummer.

Bagpiper And Clarsach Duo

If you want to combine the romance of the harp and traditional sound of the pipes, then he can play the Lowland Pipes as part of a duo with a Clarsach player. So if you are looking for something unique for your Scottish wedding or special event then book this duo.

He provides himself on wearing a full military style piping uniform and uses the Modern Red McPherson tartan, which includes a feather bonnet with red hackle, spats, tartan hose, doublet, full length plaid and of course, a horse hair sporran.
This fantastic uniform is very photogenic and he is always in demand with brides and guests alike who want to be photographed with him.

Wedding Piper Ayrshire

This conscientious piper takes pride in every wedding he is asked to play at and would love to be part of your special day, by completing the Scottish tradition of having a piper at your wedding.

Below are examples of how you can utilise the services of a piper, but if your wedding is slightly different from the norm, he is happy to adapt to your requirements, which he will happily discuss with you before the big day.

  • Play for the arrival of the Bride and Bridesmaids.

  • Play Bride into the church or ceremony room. (if required.)

Video Clip Of Scottish Bagpiper HP09

If the funeral is being held at a crematorium, you have to get permission from the management as there are differing rules which govern when and where a piper can play. Usually he would play while the mourners arrive, pipe the coffin in to the chapel and pipe while everyone departs.

For Burials, the piper will lead the cortege to the graveside and as mourners gather. During the laying of the coffin he will pipe a lament such as 'Flowers of the Forest' which you can watch him playing in the video clip below.
Once the service has been completed, he will play while mourners leave the graveside.
